Armed robbers have stolen cash from security guards as they were filling up a cash machine.
The raid happened at about 10pm on Wednesday when three robbers approached a bank on Bolton Road, Walkden.
They walked over the road from Whittle Street. One of the robbers was carrying a weapon and hit the glass of the locked front door until it smashed.
The staff from the security company had been filling up the cash machine inside the bank.
When they saw the robbers attack the front of the bank they ran to the opposite side of the building while the raiders took the money from the cash machine cassette, which was open on the floor.
They ran off with the cash in the same direction down a ginnel towards Alfred Street.
Det Cons Daniel Worthington, based at Swinton CID, said: “People should be able to go about their daily routine free from the fear that something as frightening as this will happen and that is why we are determined to catch those responsible.
"We appreciate that its a daunting prospect coming forward and speaking to police - but we would urge anyone who witnessed the robbery or saw these men acting suspiciously around the time of the incident, perhaps getting into a nearby vehicle, to contact us with any details and help us take these offenders off the streets."
