12-year-old boy rescued by fire service after getting stuck in mud

A 12-YEAR-old boy had to be pulled out of a puddle of mud by firefighters.
Fire crews were called to Metal Box Way in Westhoughton at 2.30pm yesterday after the boy got stuck up to his waist.
Firefighters used ropes to pull the boy to safety — he had been stuck in the mud for about 30 minutes.
Crews from Horwich also attended the scene.
Atherton Watch manager Simon Wood said: “The message to kids is don’t mess around near mud and water — there are all sorts of dangers.” including injury and diseases, so if you want to go swimming please go to the swimming baths.”
