Roads to be closed to make way for Hindu temple's parade
ROADS will be closed and traffic will be diverted next Saturday, September 7, to make way for a parade.
The road closures are for the Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple’s 40th anniversary walk, which will start from Queens Park car park at 1.30pm and arrive at the temple at 4pm.
The parade will pass along Spa Road, going past the University of Bolton before going along Derby Street, and on to the temple in Adelaide Street.
Bolton Council said the route required a number of road closures to ensure the event can take place safely.
Adelaide Street will be closed from its junction with St Helens Road to its junction with Derby Street from 9am to 6pm.
Traffic will be diverted along Bridgeman Street and High Street.
Spa Road, Mayor Street, College Way, University Way, Derby Street and St Helens Road will be closed in both directions, but only when the parade passes through.
A series of diversions will be used for each area, including:
- Spa Road, Mayor Street and College Way — diversion along Mayor Street, Park Road, Gilnow Road, Tudor Avenue, Chorley New Road, St George’s Road, Marsden Road, Moor Lane and Deane Road.
- University Way — diversion along Deane Road, Moor Lane and Derby Street.
