TOP soap stars and footballers played golf to raise money for charity.
The stars were at the annual golf day held by Coronation Street actors Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone, and Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk.
The event was raising cash for the Joiningjack charity, which raises money for research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
More than 170 celebrities and businessmen and women turned out to support the Street stars’ tournament at the Worsley Park Marriott hotel in Worsley.
The event has become a regular date in the celebrity charity calendar.
Golfers were also entertained by World Trickshot Champion Geoff Swain and free handmade pies were donated by Bolton chef Mike Harrison.
At the ninth hole Dunscar Bridge Brewery staff handed out welcome bottles of its new Cask 40 lager as the teams arrived to play the hole.
Gary Targett, Dunscar Brewery sales director, said: “We were asked to sponsor the ninth hole and we were happy to support this great charity golf event which raises money for an important cause. We handed out many bottles of Cask 40 to the sports and TV stars who have told us they really enjoyed our Bolton-brewed pilsner-style lager.”
The day is expected to raise thousands of pounds for the charity which aims to find a cure for the muscle wasting disease.
The golf was rounded off with a three-course dinner, with dessert provided by Mike Harrison. The evening’s entertainment and prize-giving ceremony was compered by Phoenix Nights star Archie Kelly.
