STAFF at the Yorkshire Building Society produced an “oar-some” performance to raise money for Bolton Lads and Girls Club.
Workers took turns on a rowing machine outside the building society in Mealhouse Lane and encouraged shoppers to donate to the good cause.
The building society opened in Bolton 40 years ago and is celebrating with customers this week.
Back then the average price of a house was £9,900, compared with the current average of £134,483 for a semi-detached home in Bolton.
The team at the branch will be welcoming customers old and new to pop in for tea and birthday cake between 9am and 5pm on Thursday, September 12.
“We’re so proud to have been in Bolton for 40 years,” said Julie Rawlings, Yorkshire Building Society’s Bolton branch manager.
“It’s very much part of the Yorkshire’s values to have a strong branch network and we’re happy to have been a fixture in the town centre for four decades.”
