THE great and the good of the rugby world inspired sports fans to give reading a try.
Bolton Library played host to the Scotland Rugby League manager Steve McCormack and Ray French, BBC commentator among others at a special Try Reading Question and Answer session.
Bolton Council is one of 30 local authorities signed up to the Try Reading project, which is being led by library services in the North West and is linked to Rugby League World Cup 2013.
The project, which promotes reading books and the popular sport, includes a number of exciting opportunities for people to get involved.
These include author talks, writing workshops, drama events, reporting live games and creating a welcome ‘haka’ for the visiting teams.
Rugby League World Cup 2013 kicks off in Cardiff in October and the Fijian team will be staying in Bolton and training in the town before their matches.
