Car crashes into Bolton town centre meat shop
A SEVEN-month-old baby has been taken to hospital after a car smashed into a meat shop in Bolton town centre.
The baby was in the silver Volkswagen Golf when it crashed into the window of Wayne Walker Quality Meats in Bradshawgate at noon today.
The baby was taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital as a precaution but is not believed to have been injured, and the driver also escaped unhurt.
Twenty-six-year-old Natalie Dubrawksi was working on the till at the shop when the car came crashing in.
She said: “There was a massive bang as the car went into the window. I was so scared. My life flashed before my eyes.
“The car came to rest about two metres from me and there were customers in the shop at the time.
“I was lucky that the driver braked and that the window stopped the car from going any further.”
Witnesses claimed the Volkswagen was turning left from Trinity Street into Bradshawgate and swerved into the shop to avoid going into the back of another vehicle, which came to a sudden stop at the junction.
The shop stayed open after workers cordoned off the scene and fitted a new pane of glass.
A police spokesman said: “Enquiries are ongoing as to the cause of the incident.”
