A PRIMARY school has been awarded for raising standards among its pupils.
Devonshire Road Primary School in Heaton has been presented with the Investors In Pupils award.
It won the award after being assessed for behaviour, attendance and punctuality, learning, classroom organisation and the induction of staff over 12 months.
Children were encouraged to set their own targets, such as making sure they were on time for school every day.
They also produced ‘welcome to our class’ booklets for pupils who were new to the school.
Headteacher Pamela Barnes said: “I’m very proud of the children. The assessor who came to our school said the school has an abundance of talented, creative and enthusiastic pupils. It makes me very happy to hear that after the hard work we’ve put in.”
