A FATHER who tried to destroy his family home after his marriage collapsed has appealed against convictions for assault against his ex-wife.
Andrew McGarry, aged 38, formerly of Victoria Road, Horwich, was jailed in February for eight years, with a further three years on licence for public protection, after he drove a car into the house in July, 2012, in an attempt to commit suicide and destroy the house where his estranged wife Heather and their three children lived.
Appearing from custody at Bolton Crown Court yesterday, McGarry tried to overturn two beating convictions, committed in May and June, 2012, when he assaulted his then wife Mrs McGarry.
The case was adjourned and rescheduled for November 13.
