Bolton Hospice launches Christmas 'Light up a Life' appeal
LIGHTS will twinkle across Bolton this Christmas in memory of people’s loved ones.
Bolton Hospice holds its Light up a Life remembrance appeal every year to celebrate the lives of those who are no longer with us.
Dedicating a light on one of the trees can help people find comfort during what can be a difficult time of year and raises much-needed funds for the hospice.
Barbara Downes, consultant in palliative medicine and medical director for Bolton Hospice, said: “The Bolton Hospice Light up a Life appeal is poignant to so many of us because it provides such a lovely and personal way to remember those we won’t be able to spend time with this Christmas.
It also gives us the opportunity to express that even though they are no longer with us, they are always in our thoughts.
“Every light that shines out from our seasonal trees is a fantastic tribute to those who are missed but definitely not forgotten.” People can choose an amount to donate to the appeal, which will be acknowledged with a personalised commemorative Light up a Life card. The names of loved ones will also be displayed in the Book of Dedication, kept in the Prayer and Reflection Room at the hospice.
Commemorative trees will be on Victoria Square, at the Parish Church and in the grounds of the hospice with dedication services held at Bolton Parish Church on Wednesday, December 11, and Bolton Hospice on Wednesday, December 18, both services start at 7pm.
The services are open to all supporters and the hospice welcomes everyone to come along and see the lights switched on. If you would like to dedicate a light on one of the commemorative trees or want more information, call the fundraising department on 01204 663 055 or visit boltonhospice.org.uk
