£750,000 new Farnworth Leisure Centre will open next week
THE £750,000 revamped Farnworth Leisure Centre will open to the public next week.
A state-of-the-art fitness suite, which has almost doubled in size, a swimming pool with LED lights, and new changing rooms with built-in showers and cubicles for disabled people are all included in the makeover.
Dave Singleton, chairman of the Bolton Community Leisure Trust, said: “We want to give the people of Farnworth a lift.
“That’s been our ethos all along.
“From a customer’s point of view, this development will help a lot, as people are getting a high- quality experience.
“We want this leisure centre to have the biggest possible impact on the customers. The wow factor in here is huge.”
And it is hoped the membership fees — of just £15.99 a month — will encourage Farnworth folk to get fit.
And if people sign up at the gym now, they will have nothing to pay until January.
Mr Singleton said promoting value for money is central to Farnworth’s redevelopment.
He added: “This development is about providing the people with an affordable option, which allows them to lead a healthy lifestyle.”
Work on the centre has been jointly funded by Sport England, Bolton Council and Bolt-on Community Leisure Trust. The money spent includes £6,000 on the LED lights in the main swimming pool area, and £125,000 on new equipment in the fitness suite.
This suite contains Synergy 360T multi-purpose, total body workout equipment — the very first of its kind in Bolton.
There will also be brand new treadmills, cross trainers, steppers, bikes, and a free weights space.
Refurbishment started on the Brackley Street centre on July 22, and it will open its doors at 7am on Monday, October 28.
Customers who visit the centre will be given full access to the main swimming pool area and changing rooms, with the equipment being installed in the fitness suite from November 18.
This will open on November 25, at 7am.
While work is ongoing, a preview shop will be open at 14 Brackley Street, Farnworth, until Saturday.
