A MAN out on licence from prison racially abused a member of staff at a supermarket petrol station.
Jason Lowe, aged 45, of Chorley Old Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty, at Bolton Magistrates Court, to racially abusing Mehboob Patel, with intent to cause harassment, alarm, or distress.
The court heard Lowe went to Sainsbury’s fuel station, at 9.30pm, on August 24, and was seen by Mr Patel, who was aware Lowe was banned because of previous shoplifting.
Lynda Bainbridge, prosecuting, said Lowe saw Mr Patel picking up the phone to alert security staff.
He then verbally abused Mr Patel three times, before he was removed by police.
Lowe, who had 36 previous convictions, was given a 12- month prison sentence in February, at Bolton Crown Court, for affray.
After serving half of it, he was released on bail but, as a result of this offence, had been returned to prison.
Rahil Khan, defending, said: “He totally regrets his behaviour.”
Magistrates gave him an 18-month conditional discharge.
