BRITAIN’S Got Talent duo Father and Son are to hold a glittering fundraising ball.
James and Graham Edgington will host A Night For Jennifer for its fourth year, and will take to the stage with celebrity pals.
The event, on November 16 at the Mercure Bolton Last Drop Village Hotel and Spa’s Pennine Suite, will raise funds for the duo’s Jennifer charity, which was set up in 2010 to support widowed fathers and their children.
Graham, who lost his wife Jennifer when James was just 16 months old, said: “It was an incredibly difficult time. It felt as though I was carrying the world on my shoulders and simple, everyday tasks seemed like the most challenging things in the world.
“I was suddenly a single parent caring for a 16-month-old baby while working full-time and trying to find time to grieve. It was overwhelming, but I knew I had to pull myself together.”
The black tie bash will include performances from Father and Son as well as Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalist Olivia Archbold.
Other performers appearing include X Factor finalist, James Michael and X Factor ‘bootcamper’, vocalist and hit maker Redd, who has had number one singles in Europe and Japan.
There will also be a performance from 90’s dance diva Angie Brown and some very special surprises to be revealed on the night. It will be hosted by Tower FM’s Jon and Vix plus female impersonator Billie Jean and is sponsored by L'Oreal and McVities.
James, who wanted to launch the Jennifer charity because of the lack of support for grief-stricken families, said: “I was really surprised by the lack of support available to men in particular.”
The charity aims to set up support networks for those suffering bereavement, giving services such as counselling, childcare and financial advice.
