TORY MP Jake Berry has thrown his support behind The Bolton News’ Let’s Get Back on Track campaign.

The Conservative MP for Darwen and Rossendale, covering Turton, has joined the call for Bolton’s railway commuters to get a better deal by reinstating axed services and improving the ‘cattle cart’ carriages.

So far our campaign has been signed by the town’s three Labour MPs and council leaders, it has been debated in the House of Commons, and Prime Minister David Cameron and Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin have said they will look into the issue.

Mr Berry, who recently successfully campaigned to reinstate bus services between Edgworth and Bolton, said he was “very happy” to back our own campaign.

He said: “Lots of my constituents in Darwen and Turton change at Bolton to get the train to Manchester and these cancellations will be disastrous.

“I’d like to urge everyone to sign the petition so that we can show just how important it is to us that these services are retained.”

The campaign was launched after it was revealed that one fewer service would be travelling through Bolton every hour and that a peak-time train would be halved in size.

So far, our petition has attracted dozens of signatures, and there’s still time to sign. To get on board and support the Let’s Get Back On Track campaign, sign the petition in our town centre office.

Alternatively, you can download your own petition from our website and collect signatures, or you can sign online.
