This 'Asian Elders' has annoyed me for years. How dare this be exclusively for Asians. What would happen if there was a 'White Christian/Catholic Elders'? There would be absolute uproar and numerous race card thrown into the equation. It's a sign of the times when it's the whites in this town that are victims of racial discrimination.

The Asian elders did receive until 2008 £ 120.000 a year of Bolton Council until they cut it by only £ 20.000 a year. They then applied for a grant from the Labour government in 2008 for the old people to do.... wait for it!!! Yoga!. Labour you are a disgrace this is a sham pr stunt as usual. Come on UKIP!

Very disappointed to read the comment from MrsB11 & others. If only you had tried to ask the questions that had been 'Annoying' you over the years.

The organisations is not just for Asian Elders but is a service open to the Borough. We are here to provide a service for anyone in the borough regardless of Race, Gender, Disability......The name was historically given when it was an initiative over 20 years ago. We have shared premises with non Asian Elders at Merton & intrigrate at any opportunity.

The event is held on a annual basis to celebrate the three main religious festivals. Which are Eid, Diwali & Christmas. It is held in partnership with other faith organisations and is not funded by BMBC.
Members of the Asian community try to mix in when and where they can but I am yet to see non Asian members drop in to the Centre on Northfield St. I would also like to point out that we provide services & are not a Religious Organistion. Age will not descriminate against anyone we just want everyone to Age with Dignity without being discriminated against and having the right not to be 'Hated'.

Your name "Asian Elders" discriminates. If you want this service to be used by everyone in the community and not just Asian Elders, I suggest you change your name.
If the white British Christian/catholic community set up such a service and advertised as "British Elders", would your community feel welcome to use that service?
We wouldn't be allowed to do that anyway, because that would be classed as discrimination. It's only your community that is allowed to discriminate against ours.
