STAFF and pupils at St Peter’s CE Primary are celebrating after picking up three awards for their work over the last year.

The school, in Alexandra Street, Farnworth, was awarded an Artsmark Gold award, an ICT Quality Mark and a Fairtrade award.

It was given the award for providing a wide range of artistic subjects to its pupils and involving other artists and schools in its work.

The school had its ICT Quality Mark reaccredited after using Twitter and a blog page to keep people updated on its latest news.

It received Fairtrade status last month for teaching the children about Fairtrade countries and for using Fairtrade products.

Lynn Williams, one of the school’s headteachers, said: “I always seek external validation so this is just fantastic.

“I really appreciate the work being done by the staff and children.

“These awards show the high quality of education the school provides.”
