A BOLTON white goods firm has been named Britain’s fourth most popular employer for the second year running.

Online retailer ao.com retained the position at the glittering Best Companies 2014 awards ceremony on February 27.

The firm finished 62nd when it first entered the list in 2011, before finishing fifth in 2012 and fourth last year.

The awards rank firms by levels of staff happiness, with the winner of ao.com’s mid-size category the commercial radio firm UKRD.

An ao.com spokesman said: “A fantastic night at the Sunday Times Best Companies awards night.

“We’re proud to hold our spot as the fourth best company to work for.

“A huge thank you to everyone at ao.com for supporting us — it’s great to know you love what you do.”

It has been a bumper week for the firm as it was also floated on the stock market.

AO World's float price of 285p gave it a market value of £1.2 billion before the stock rallied as high as 412p and settled at 380p.

Iceland scooped top prize in the Best 25 Big Companies list, seeing off runners-up Admiral.

The full lists will be published by the awards’ sponsor, The Sunday Times, in the coming weeks.
