THEY say a picture paints a thousand words, but for Bolton photography student Matt Longworth’s prize-winning image, you only need three — starry, starry night.
The 21-year-old University of Bolton student, from Manchester, finished runner-up in Wanderlust Travel Magazine’s international photography competition.
Out of hundreds of images from exotic and iconic locations around the world, such as Iceland, India, France and Kenya, Matt’s picture of a quiet night in Cornwall was selected as one of only 40 images for a special exhibition in Manchester and London.
From these 40 finalist images a further 12 were chosen as four winners, four runners-up and four special commendations.
Matt’s said: “I wanted to capture the beauty of Cornwall on a very clear, warm summer’s night.
“The photograph was taken in Sennen Cove, Cornwall which is right next to Land’s End.
“This was the first time I had attempted to capture the stars so I didn’t know what to expect.”
This was the first photography competition he has entered, and had to enter it as a requirement of his degree.
