DOREEN Law, a popular retired pub landlady and a keen player in the Tyldesley and District Ladies Darts League, has died at the age of 72.

Grandmother and mother-of-two Doreen, who had battled bravely against cancer, died on March 23 in the Royal Bolton Hospital after a recurrence of the disease.

In the early 1990s the former Henri Lloyd clothing firm machinist had taken over The Railway pub and, with her then husband Earle Law, turned the town centre’s only ‘back street pub’ into a much-loved local.

“She was one of life’s nice people,” said ex-husband Earle. The funeral will be on Monday at St George’s Parish Church, Tyldesley, followed by committal at Howe Bridge.
