ACTOR Josh Little is bringing mystery and mayhem to the stage with the help of a much-loved Great Dane.

The former Canon Slade School and Sixth Form pupil is playing Fred in Scooby Doo! The Mystery of the Pyramid which calls into The Lowry, Salford Quays, from tomorrow to Sunday, April 13.

The 25-year-old from Bromley Cross credits his time at the Bradshaw Brow school, particularly drama teacher Gail Shuttleworth and singing teacher Rachel Hughes, with helping pave his path to success.

Mr Little, who has appeared in a nationwide tour of Bill Kenwright’s Dreamboats and Petticoats and toured Europe playing the part of Ren in Footloose, said: “We had some great teachers there. The drama department was really strong, the music as well.

“I always took to acting, singing and dancing.”

He also cut his teeth appearing in productions with amateur theatre societies in Bolton, including BCMCS and CATS Youth Theatre.

Speaking of his dream role, he said: “I would love to play Tony in West Side Story.

“I did it at the Bolton Albert Halls when I was 18 or 19 with Bolton Catholics. I would love to do it again one day.”

His current role of the official leader of Mystery Incorporated sees him transported to ancient Egypt where the gang embarks on one of their most exotic adventures yet.

Facing treacherous challenges while trying to uncover the mystery of Pharaoh Hatchepsout’s pyramid, can they avoid being turned to stone by the terrifying Pharaoh and can those meddling kids save the day once again?

Mr Little, who now lives in London, said: “We’re going to Egypt so we need all the help we can get, in the Sahara Desert.

“Fred isn’t the cleverest of guys. I’m sure it’s going to be good fun.

“Scooby Doo and playing Fred is all a bit of a giggle. It’s kind of panto-esque in its nature.

“Nothing too serious or heavy. There’s a lot of singing and dancing thrown in there, a lot of silliness.

“Fred is a nice guy, he’s a bit into himself but he’s got a heart of gold.

“I’ve got a little nephew called Thomas, I can’t wait for him to see it.”

l Scooby Doo! The Mystery of the Pyramid is at The Lowry from April 10 to 13.
