Halliwell Befriending Service get £1,000 grant to set up coffee morning

A BEFRIENDING service in Halliwell has been given a cash boost.

The Halliwell Befriending Service was set up to help people aged 50 and over who are at risk at of becoming isolated.

Organisers made a successful bid to the Big Lottery Fund and were awarded £1,000 to set up a weekly coffee morning.

Carol Fildes, service co-ordinator, said: “We are over the moon about receiving the grant.

“We have a fantastic team of volunteers and will be able to continue to help people in the community.”

The coffee morning will now take place every Friday.

The service has now relocated to St Paul’s Church in Halliwell Road.
