A TEENAGE girl was raped as she played on a computer games console, a court heard.

A jury at Bolton Crown Court was told how Daniel Brindle grabbed the 15-year-old girl as she sat on a bed alongside him as they both used an Xbox.

Nicola Gatto, prosecuting, said Brindle, aged 30, had been drinking and, as his alleged victim recalled, was “talking rubbish” before the attack.

She added that when he stood up the teenager assumed he was going to change the game, but them he grabbed her, pulled off her lower clothing and raped her, only stopping when she managed to kick out and shout.

Immediately afterwards the girl told nobody about the attack. “She will tell you she felt very embarrassed at the time,” said Miss Gatto.

But the following week she revealed her ordeal to a teacher and school nurse, breaking down in tears and fearing that she could be pregnant.

Police were called but when Brindle was questioned he denied ever having any sexual contact with the girl.

Brindle, of Hengist Street, Tonge Fold, has pleaded not guilty to rape.

The case continues.
