A MOUNTAIN biker from Atherton was taken to hospital with serious head and shoulder injuries after falling off his bike in Philips Park, Prestwich.
Bolton Mountain Rescue Team were called to help the 47-year-old man at 1.55pm.
The North West Ambulance Service took the man, who was part of a group of seven mountain bikers, to hospital.
As well as serious head and shoulder injuries, he was also suffering from a possible broken jaw.
A spokesman for the North West Air Ambulance confirmed the helicopter was present from 2.09pm but was not needed.
There were 22 members of the Bolton Mountain Rescue Team involved in the rescue.
