YOUNGSTERS showcased their talents and wowed a panel of judges to celebrate two years in their state-of-the-art Radcliffe school.

Millwood Primary Special School held its second Millwood Day, the anniversary of when pupils moved from their Bury site to the new £11 million facility in School Street in 2012.

A sparkling Millwood’s Got Talent show was held on Friday to mark the occasion — with Ivan Lewis, MP for Bury South, stepping in as a guest judge.

Also pressing the all-important golden buzzer were judges Helen Andrews, retired Bury NUT representative, Debi Walker, the school’s chairman of governors and director of Bury Parents’ Forum, and assistant headteacher Joanne Hurst.

Headteacher Helen Chadwick said: “Today is a day when pupils show off their creative talent and reflect on the huge range of opportunities and activities that are now open to them thanks to the facilities at the School Street site in Radcliffe.

"As we’re celebrating the World Cup this year, each class adopted a country, and pupils dressed in that country’s flag colours.

“It was a day full of colour, music, dancing, communication, sociability and fun and was something a bit different before we get back to the end of year assessments.”

Acts included The Divas dancing to Let It Go, a solo performance of True Colours, the Millwood Signing Group, a performance by "Elton John and friends", synchronised swimming that was streamed live from the pool and dancing to the Cha Cha Slide.

Assistant headteacher Jill Tierney was show compere and afterwards the pupils enjoyed a special lunch.

The school’s resources include a workshop theatre, hydrotherapy pool, full-size floodlit multi-use games area and new five-a-side football pitch with drainage system.
