DOCTOR Who legend Tom Baker has done some voiceover work for a computer game designed by a Bolton lecturer.

Here are 9 things you might not know about the owner of one of the country's most recognisable voices.

1. Thomas Stewart Baker was born January 20, 1934 in Liverpool.

2. He played the Doctor from 1974 to 1981 taking over the role from Jon Pertwee to become the fourth Doctor.

3. He is often regarded as the most popular of the Doctors — in polls conducted by Doctor Who Magazine, Tom Baker has lost the "Best Doctor" category only three times: once to Sylvester McCoy in 1990, and twice to David Tennant in 2006 and 2009.

4. In a 2005 poll, his voice was found to be the fourth most recognisable in Britain.

5. He played the Doctor for seven consecutive seasons, making him the longest-serving actor in the part.

6. In 1982, he portrayed Sherlock Holmes in a four-part BBC One version of The Hound of the Baskervilles.

7. He also made an appearance in Blackadder II, in the episode "Potato", as the sea captain Redbeard Rum.

8. Tom was cast as narrator of Little Britain on BBC Radio 4 and remained in the role when it transferred to television.

9. He also featured in the one off 50th Anniversary Special of Doctor Who.
