POLICE will be taking no further action against Amir Khan after he was arrested on suspicion of two assaults.
The 27-year-old boxer was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning after an incident in Russell Street, Heaton, in which two teenagers, both aged 19, were said to be injured.
Amir spent hours in custody before being released on bail.
After being released from custody Amir tweeted: “It's all nonsense. Please don't believe what you read. I'm home with my family and nobody got beat up.”
A spokesman for GMP said a decision had been made to take no further action against a 27-year-old arrested on suspicion of two section 47 assaults (actual bodily harm).
A spokesman for Amir said: “Amir Khan was arrested during the early hours of Friday 4th July on suspicion of common assault against two youths.
"Shortly thereafter he was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
“This was a minor incident involving a misunderstanding between Amir Khan and two other youths.
“On Monday, July 7, Amir was notified by the police that the allegations against him had been withdrawn and the matter would not be pursued any further.”
