BUDDING young chefs have the chance to get a free cookery lesson from celebrity cook Debbie Halls Evans.

The winner of Channel 4’s The Taste will teach her tricks of the trade to children, who can also learn how different foods react together in a special food science class.

The lessons, which are being held with the Middlebrook Retail Park mini food festival at the end of this month, will also teach youngsters how to create Debbie-style dishes.

Adults can also get involved in a special VIP event where they can enjoy a glass of Prosecco while creating impressive canapés and afternoon tea dishes.

The mini food festival, which is running from July 31 for four days, will also feature food markets, craft stalls, competitions and free entertainment.

Debbie, who lives in Blackrod, said: “It’s about getting both children and adults enjoying hands-on cooking and doing something a little different. It is all real food that everyone can do if they have a go.

“I was approached by the food festival organisers asking me if I could do anything so I thought I’d put a new spin on the food demos I have been doing all over the country.

"But instead of showing people, I’m getting them to do it as well.

“It’s much more fun that way, plus you’ll be surprised how quickly some complicated-looking dishes can be made.”

Debbie’s classes will be held on July 31 and August 1 between 10.30am and 3.30pm. Only 20 children are allowed per class, and eight adults per class.

Adult classes cost £5. To book call 01204 673100.
