CELEBRITY chef Debbie Hall-Evans was one of the guests, along with food experts galore, at the Middlebrook food festival.
The Horwich mum and winner Channel 4’s The Taste was back on home turf to provide a masterclass for the children in rainbow cakes in a pavilion in the shopping centre.
Each child brought home an individually made rainbow cake after an hour of whisking, stirring and beating.
Debbie said the event was a great warm-up to the Bolton Food Festival, which takes place over the August bank holiday.
She added: “This has been about engaging the children in baking, and we also did some experiments so they could learn a bit about food science. It’s about teaching children about where their food has come from. I can’t wait for the Bolton Food Festival — I’m really, really excited.
Also at the festival were Horwich-based restaurant Spice Valley and The Salad Bowl, from Horwich, who showcased their range of fresh fruit and vegetables, along with a host of other stalls.
