A DOG show featuring animals rescued by the RSPCA attracted big crowds to Moses Gate Country Park.

Organisers said more than £1,000 was raised for the animal rescue charity, with the final total to be confirmed soon.

Among the dogs taking part was German Shepherd Jake, who was saved after getting into a fight with a Boxer dog at his previous home.

He was joined at the show by Labrador Shelby, rescued from a multi-dog house, who came second in the waggiest tail category.

Helen Booth, who helped organise the show, said: “It was a very good day. The weather being dry was also a big bonus as in previous years it has always rained and put a real dampener on things.

“We had great support from lots of other charities and members of the public who came to enter their dogs.”
