BEAMING Jack Murray had his dreams come true when he was invited to meet his football heroes at the Macron Stadium.

The five-year-old, from The Crescent, Horwich, also had his shirt signed, pictures taken with the squad and had a kickabout with his favourite Whites player Tim Ream.

The special treat was offered to the five-year-old when his mum Karen started chatting to Tony Kelly about her son’s brain tumour — without realising who he was.

Straight away Mr Kelly made some calls and the family was invited to meet the team ahead of their final pre-season friendly against Vitesse Arnhem.

Although his brain tumour is not cancerous, Jack, who was diagnosed with Langerhans' cell histiocytosis (LCH) last month, will have to have at least six weeks of chemotherapy to shrink it.

Mrs Murray, aged 40, said: “I have never seen Jack so happy.

“He’s had a tough few weeks and is about to have more, so I’m so grateful to the club for giving him such a treat.

“He said his best moment was having a kick-about with Tim Ream.

“It all happened because of a chance meeting with Tony whilst watching the Ironman triathlon. I didn’t realise who he was at first.

“We have been to hell and back over the last few weeks so we are so grateful to Bolton Wanderers, especially Tony, for making Jack’s day.”
