A PILE of wood which children had used to make a den caught fire in Kearsley.

A fire crew from Farnworth were called to a patch of land, in Mossfield Road, at about 7pm where they found a pile of burning wood.

Simon Connor, Farnworth crew manager, said he thought children had been playing there, and someone had later set fire to the den.

He said: “The fire was going really well when we got there. It was very hard to put out, because we had to cross a big ditch to get there.

“I would urge people to be careful, somebody could be inside the den when it is set alight, we have had that in the past.”

I wondered what the black smoke was.
Kids build a den in the old cuttings and other kids set fire to it, it happens every year during the school holidays ;)
