Reporter Andrew Bardsley parked himself up in a town centre pub to soak up the atmosphere for Wanderers' biggest game of the season so far.

HUNDREDS of fans crammed into Hogarths pub to watch the Whites battle it out to earn a replay.

The pub, in Churchgate, showed the match two huge 5x4 metre screens as well as smaller screens dotted around the venue, to make sure no-one missed out on the action.

Wanderers fans were queuing up outside the pub to get in, such was the interest surrounding the big match.

The fans roared on their team, and their support was so loud it could surely have been heard at Anfield itself.

Danny Speed, from Westhoughton, was seen to be visibly nervous throughout the entire 90 minutes, with his fingernails taking the brunt of the tense last 10 minutes.

The 26-year-old said: "It was nerve wracking, but we played really well and I thought we deserved the draw in the end.

"Away from home, at a place like Anfield, a draw is a great result. We can take them back to the Macron now and hopefully get a win there."

Matt Foulkes, fromJohnson Fold, was a particularly animated Wanderers fan during the match, and said that every Wanderers player deserved credit.

The 18-year-old said: "Everybody pulled together and showed what we can do when we play as a team. You couldn't fault anybody, they all did their best and were fantastic.

"If we play like we did at Anfield, I think we will be able to get a win at the Macron."

Mirzet Sarcevic, of Chorley Old Road, said he thought Wanderers keeper Adam Bodgan was the star man.

He said: "I am delighted with the draw, but we have Bogdan to thank for that. Some of the saves he made were fantastic. I think we could sneak 1-0 win at the Macron if he plays that well again."

Looking ahead to the replay, Matt Foulkes' brother Andy said he thinks playing at home will make all the difference.

The 20-year-old said: "It is going to be harder for them than it is for us. I am more confident about that game than I was for the original tie, we will have the advantage of having the 12th man, the Wanderers fans, in the replay."
