A VIOLENT and controlling father who met a woman on a dating website and proceeded to rape her on two separate occasions has been jailed for 16 years.

For their first date, Jon Senior took her to a party, but on returning to his house, he accused her of kissing another man.

Senior then proceeded to pull her hair and kick her in the face, before raping her.

Senior, aged 32, told the terrified woman: “If you think this is bad, wait until I am finished with you.”

The next day, members of her family said she looked unrecognisable, so severe was the damage he caused, with bruises and blood covering her face.

The court was told that she believed she was going to die during the "prolonged" assault.

Friends and family advised her to report Senior to the police, but she did not because she was so scared.

Judge Peter Davies said Senior then continued to “belittle and humiliate” the woman, who is from Bolton but cannot be named for legal reasons.

He shared intimate and private images of the victim with his friends, and, when the woman learned that Senior had slept with another woman, she threatened to leave him.

She was at home watching TV when Senior told her: “If you are going to leave me, then I am going to have you one last time”, before dragging her upstairs by the hair and raping her.

Such was the controlling nature of Senior, he told the woman that if she ever went in a taxi, she was not to sit next to the driver, the court heard.

On one occasion Senior destroyed a bedroom door because the woman had failed to call him on the telephone at the exact time that he had asked.

The final straw came when the woman told Senior she wanted to go home and he began to pull her hair and punch her in the face, which she later reported to police.

Judge Davies said the woman gave a “moving” interview to police, in which she said that the abuse has left her with no self-esteem.

He added that the woman “lives in fear” and constantly looks over her shoulder.

Addressing Senior, of Liverpool Road, Irlam, Judge Davies said there is a “continued risk” that he may re-offend, even after his release.

Senior was given an extended sentence of 16 years, 12 of which he will serve in prison and four on licence.

Senior previously pleaded guilty actual bodily harm, criminal damage and common assault, but was found guilty of two counts of rape after a trial.

Defending, Richard English said that the incident reflected “a quite appalling period of behaviour by the defendant.”

He said his imprisonment would mean that Senior would miss out on his young daughter growing up — she is due to start secondary school in September.

During the trial, a former girlfriend of Senior’s who had also been subjected to violence during a two-year relationship from 2009 to 2011 gave evidence against him after hearing of the latest proceedings.
