A TV AERIAL man was rushed to hospital after falling 15ft from his ladder while working at a house in Blackrod.

The air ambulance was scrambled to the scene of the accident in Greenbarn Way on Wednesday just before 4pm.

The 32-year-old man suffered arm and chest injuries in the fall from the semi-detached house.

Mark McGuire, the owner of the house, alerted the emergency services and a North West Air Ambulance landed in a playing field area just yards away.

The man, who works for Bolton-based Advance Satellite Services, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Bolton Hospital by road.

Advance Satellite Services are carrying out an investigation into what happened and are in touch with the man's family.

Mr McGuire, aged 62, said: "He was in great agony but we were talking. I've done First Aid and knew I couldn't move it so all I could do was make him comfortable, he was in agony but we will still talking and joking.

"The emergency services were very good and with the air ambulance there were seven paramedics working on him.

"They were tremendous, you can't praise them enough, they gave him pain relief and reassured me about his condition."

He added: "It was an accident, he was working on the aerial and fell. It is one of those things, it could happen to anyone. The company have been great with us, really good and professional. I think he has suffered a broken arm and we hope he recovers quickly."

A spokesman for Advanced Satellite Services said: "We are looking into what happened. He has broken his arm. His brother rang me yesterday and I will be speaking again to him today."

A spokeswoman for North West Ambulance Service said a rapid response vehicle, and an ambulance was sent to the scene.

She said: "We are called to a male who had fallen off a ladder. He suffered suspected arm and chest injuries and was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital."
