BOLTON Hospice’s 21st Annual Golf Day, held at Bolton Golf Club raised more than £8,000 to help the hospice provide the best quality end- of-life care.

The total smashed the £6,000 benchmark set at the event last year.

Seventeen teams of four took part to help raise funds for the hospice. A raffle and sponsorship from local companies such as Mercedes-Benz of Bolton, helped boost the total to £8,000.

The winners on the day were a team from Bolton-based Russell and Russell Solicitors. They saw off competition from other businesses including Warburtons and Anthony Axford.

A spokesperson for the hospice said: “Bolton Hospice only gets a fraction of its funding from the Government. This means we need to raise more than £3.2 million each year to continue our vital services.

“The money will help us keep delivering more individualised care, with different options like ‘hospice at home,’ for families that want different things.

“We are grateful to Bolton Golf Club, all our sponsors and participants who helped make it a great day.”
