BOLTON’S new tiki bar is set to open its doors on Friday.

Akua, which will be based in Bradshawgate, will launch at the end of the week after a £250,000 redevelopment of the building which was formerly Mojo’s, Hotshots and Vogue.

The design team behind the Rum Jungle in Burnley felt that the site ideally catered to their requirements with a private outside seating area.

Independent music producer Harrison O’Brien, aged 22, is heading up the Akua management team who will offer a range of tropical Polynesian style cocktails and play host to a capacity of up to 400 guests.

The venue will be available for private VIP functions and offer hostess table service for guests and there are also plans to offer a cocktail making master class in the near future.

Mr O’Brien said: “A lot of investment has been coming into Bolton and it was an easy decision to move our team here.

“Our support network is our most valuable asset and we believe that it’s the support of our new customer base that will help us grow from strength to strength and ensure that we provide the service that Bolton and its neighbouring towns and villages want.

"We would like our customers to be able to feel a sense of escapism within the heart of their town.”

Akua will be Bradshawgate's second tiki bar following the opening of Kahiki Hideout last month.
