A BOLTON business which was started in a bedroom is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

Sign Tech, based on Halliwell Road, was set up by owner Rob Rogerson in 2006 and has gone from strength to strength ever since.

Mr Rogerson explained how he started making stickers and signs in the shed and on his bedroom floor at his mum's Bolton house when he was 21.

He said: "When I was 19 I worked in a sign shop in Halliwell Road and I really enjoyed it, I left there and started making motorbike stickers on my bedroom floor at my mum’s house in Bromley Cross.

"It was from there that I decided to set up my own business. My first shop was in Horwich then I moved to another unit before buying the shop that I worked in when I was 19, which is where we are now."

But it hasn't been all plain sailing for the company which specialises in providing high quality signs and excellent customer service.

Mr Rogerson said: "When I first set up my company I hadn't thought about all the overheads and it was all a bit of a whirlwind.

"I was working three jobs just to keep my business going. I have always been adamant that I wanted to give that personal service. A lot of people want something for nothing and that's why we struggled for the first few years but I'm proud that I stuck to my morals because it has paid off and people appreciate that service."

The team of four are based in Halliwell Road at the shop where 31-year-old Rob started out his career 12 years ago.

He said: "When I saw that the premises was up for sale it was a bit of nostalgia that made me want to take it on.

"We have been working hard and the business is progressing well.

"It's taken a while for us to get where we are but it has been worth it."

The business can be found at 354, Halliwell Road, or contacted on 01204 465200.
