Self-employed plasterer Martin Carroll got thrown off a flight bound for Ibiza after being “fed” a large amount of booze by his pals.

Before take-off at Manchester Airport the father-of-two continually heckled cabin crew trying to explain safety procedures to passengers.

Prosecutor Tina Cunnane told the City’s magistrates that the Captain eventually lost patience and had him throw off the aircraft on September 9.

Carroll, 26, of Staton Avenue, Bolton, who had been hoping to celebrate his birthday in Spain, admitted being drunk in an aircraft.

He was fined £500 and ordered to pay costs amounting to £115.

Court Chairwoman Helen Hawley told him “This has been an expensive lesson. Your pals fed you with alcohol but you didn’t have to drink it”.

Mrs Cunnane said on being taken off the plane his eyes were glazed and he wouldn’t stop shouting profanities.

Daimian Mullarkey, defending, said Carroll had been bought a lot of alcohol by his mates.

“It was simply high jinx but his behaviour was childish and inappropriate. He has learned a salutary lesson” added Mr Mullarkey.

The court heard that he had flown out the following day and incurred further expense to join his mates.
