A MAN was seen hanging out of the window of a moving car in an alleged road rage incident.

Police were called to Derby Street in Bolton shortly after 3.25pm to reports of dangerous driving.

When officers arrived they found that an altercation had broken out between the driver of a black Mercedes and a blue Vauxhall Vectra.

Eyewitnesses reported that a scuffle broke out outside the rear Cannon Street entrance to Suite Trends furniture shop in Derby Mills.

A witness, who did not wish to be named, said: “It is complicated. It was a road rage incident. The Mercedes drove round the corner and stopped in Cannon Street.

“The other man left his car on the main road and he came round and started punching the Mercedes driver through the window.

“The Mercedes drove off with the other man hanging out of the window. He fell off and ended up underneath a car.”

The driver of the Vauxhall Vectra was taken to Salford Royal Hospital with what were described as “non-life threatening injuries.”

There were reports from neighbours that seven police cars were at the scene.

The ambulance service confirmed they sent two rapid response vehicles and an ambulance.

Cannon Street was cordoned off as emergency services dealt with the incident.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
