WANDERERS boss Neil Lennon is calling a repeat of last week's Watford display at Nottingham Forest today – but only in an attacking sense.

After the dust settled following the pulsating 4-3 home defeat to the Hornets last weekend, Lennon admits the performance, particularly going forward, was much to his liking.

The Northern Irishman had demanded more potency up front and the addition of Adam Le Fondre and emergence of Zach Clough have provided that with an improved style of play appreciated by the fans.

But the Whites boss concedes his backline is a concern after a worrying return to their early-season tendency to leak goals.

Lennon told The Bolton News: "I was really pleased with the performance last week – just gutted with the result.

"But the way we set about the game and the way we played, if we had taken our chances we would have won the game comfortably.

"That’s very encouraging for me considering the position we found ourselves in when I arrived.

"There has been a big improvement in the style of football we are playing.

"Watford are an excellent side but we played very well.

"It was a great game of football I have to say.

"I am just sorry we came out on the wrong end because even a point would have been less than we deserved on the day.

"As a manager you have to look at the performance.

"Are we creating chances? Yes. Are we playing good football? Yes. Are we conceding goals? Yes – that’s something we have to address.

"For a while there I was worried about us not scoring enough goals while we were conceding very little.

"Now we have gone the other way and we have to try and correct that as soon as possible starting at Forest."

Lennon comes up against a Forest side managed by ex-Whites boss Dougie Freedman who also saw his side involved in a goal-glut in a 4-4 draw at Blackpool last weekend.

And the Wanderers manager says that suggests it could be another open game at the City Ground.

He added: "I expect it to be an open game.

"I think both teams will try and play and go for it.

"It may be similar to last week, though we may approach it a little more cautiously being away from home.

"But I have players in the team who want to attack and good pace.

"No matter how much you plan for games, sometimes you have to trust the players to get on with things."
