AFTER reading your report (BEN, July 31)headed: Residents fear young golfers, I feel I must correct what was obviously a misunderstanding. It has never been my intention for ball games to be banned from the field at the rear of my house, only the playing of golf.
Let me take you back to your front page lead story dated Friday, (BEN, July 2) headed: Stray golf ball drives Bill into hospital. This incident happened beside a recognised course. It was a bad shot played by an experienced golfer in a controlled situation. If the results can be so serious, how serious a situation could arise without anycontrol at all, eg on a playing field?
I hope this clears up any misunderstanding, that I want all ball games banned, as this was never my intention or that of my neighbours who signed the petition.
