LAST year, your paper kindly published our appeal for local families to host 16-year-old foreign students. On behalf of the students who came to the area, I'd like to thank you and your readers warmly for the wonderful welcome our students received.
EF Foundation is a non profit-making organisation which arranges a 'once-in-a-lifetime' educational experience for students in 28 countries. These students live with host families, and attend school, as members of the local community. The families are asked to provide bed and board; the youngsters bring their own pocket money and cover any additional expenses. Each one is fully insured.
Our students from the area have recently said sad farewells to their new friends, both in the family and at school. They returned home with such fond memories of their stay that this year the demand for the region has exceeded all forecasts.
As a result, we're still frantically searching for suitable families for students hoping to arrive at the end of August. These can be families with children, couples without children, or single or elderly people. Many boys and girls, such as Yumi Yoshida from Japan, are anxiously waiting for news of their home.
If anyone can help, please contact me on 01204 571873 or call Nicola on 0171 878 3540.
