Quick start sets pace

ADLINGTON RANGERS 38

PARR HARE AND HOUNDS 10 Rugby League RANGERS started well and kept firing in its rugby league match against Parr Hare and Hounds.

Quick cross field passing soon had Parr back-peddling.

The ball went out to winger Rob Fitzpatrick, who made a long run up the left then passed inside to half-back Carl Parker who went over for the opening try which he also goaled.

The next score came after some all-out pressure by Parr on the Rangers line. A dropped ball allowed loose-forward Mark Lowe to break clear and beat the cover for a length of the field try - goaled by Parker.

Rangers attacked again and good inter-passing allowed wing Rob Fitzpatrick to run well and pass inside to full back Nick Royle who went in for an unconverted try. Parr then got back into the game when a dropped Rangers ball was picked up. Although the Parr player was caught as he kicked ahead the referee awarded a penalty try which was goaled.

Rangers hit back straight away with some more good rugby to put winger Brian McNamara in for the try - goaled by Parker.

In the second half with the team re-arranged Rangers were somewhat disjointed and found it hard work with Parr lying on in the tackle.

Rangers started to make mistakes with knock-ons and dropped passes.

Parr hammered away at Rangers' line and went through 18 consecutive tackles after kicks on the last tackle rebounded back to them.

Parr kicked and the ball was dropped over the line for them to pounce on it to score a try.

Rangers got back into action with more good rugby. Lowe made another good break over up field and more good passing put hooker Bryan Winstanley in for the try - goaled by Parker.

Winstanley was having a good game with his solid defence and good backing up. More good passing right across the field put Lee Hurst through to score a good try.

Man of the match after a great game was Mark Lowe. Next week Rangers are away in the North West Counties Cup. RYLANDS (WARRINGTON) 28 ADLINGTON RANGERS 'A' 22 Reserves suffer tough decisions RANGERS 'A' lost at Rylands after some controversial refereeing decisions.

Rangers started well with some strong running by the forwards, Dave Graham and Mark Tonge showing up well.

Half Backs Martin Hill and Martin Rogers were dictating play behind the scrum. Good cross field play put Martin Crossland away to score - goaled by Hill.

Stuart Anwyl was doing some strong running, Rylands finding him hard to stop.

A dropped ball then let in Rylands for a try and goal to level the score.

Then, Rangers came under a barrage of penalties and Rylands pulled ahead with two quick tries and a goal.

Crossland pulled a try back for Rangers with a good run again goaled by Hill.

Rylands scored again with a penalty before Stuart Anwyl made a strong run and went in for a try goaled by Hill.

In the second half Rangers were again being penalised, Rylands picked up another two points. Rangers got away when good work by Mark Tonge made a break for Crossland to race over only to see the try disallowed for an alleged knock on. Then, from a seemingly blatant forward pass, Rylands scored.

Man of the match after a storming game was full-back Jamie Roden followed by Martin Rogers and Martin Crossland. Martin Hill scored five goals.

Next week they host Parkside Goldborne.
