AN appeal for more cycle ways and better facilities for cyclists was made to a Government policymaker when he visited Bolton.
Don Mathew of the Government National Cycling Forum visited town to see Bolton's cycle paths and speak to keen cyclists.
About 50 people turned up to hear his presentation on the Government's future plans for encouraging people to get on their bikes.
And during the meeting, results of a detailed survey conducted in Bolton were handed over for him to study in detail.
About 250 questionnaires were completed and handed in to Bolton Council.
The main requests included in the document were calls for more cycle ways, better changing facilities and better security for bikes when they are parked.
Council group planning officer Paul Feehily helped organise the visit.
He said: "We had a good response with about 50 people attending Mr Mathew's presentation.
"As well as outlining the Government's views on cycling, he listened to the views and concerns of local cyclists."
He said that Mr Mathew had expressed particular interest in the cycle lane scheme set up by the council on Moss Bank Way.
