£12,000 helps children make the grade

CHILDREN are getting help to make the grades thanks to funding from the Little Hulton and Farnworth Partnership.

Schools in the area are using regeneration money to set up learning projects to tackle underachievement. Teachers at St Peter's Primary School received more than £6,000 for an after-school learning club.

Another £6,000 is being used to bring in extra teaching staff to support special projects involving motivation and self-confidence.

Assistant headteacher Georgina Riding said: "The funding has made a definite impact on the development of these children." Farnworth Councillor Noel Spencer said: "Children have responded exceptionally well."
