TOMASZ Klos can secure himself a contract at the Reebok Stadium with an impressive performance in Northern Ireland next week.
The Poland right back has been on Wanderers' training trip to Italy this week but Sam Allardyce will not make a decision until he sees him in match action.
Klos is a free agent after being released by Kaiserslautern where he played 19 games in three years.
He has a track record to suggest he could strengthen the Wanderers squad.
The skilful right back has won 39 caps for Poland and, at 30, is desperate to kick-start his career with a dream move to the Premiership.
He is lined up to play for Wanderers against Ballymena on Wednesday, along with fellow trialist Kevin Davies, and a good performance could persuade Allardyce to take him on board.
Wanderers' football secretary Simon Marland confirmed: "He is training with us but we are some way off a deal as we want to look at him in a friendly.
"The squad is due back today and then next week we have arranged a couple of behind closed doors friendlies."
Meanwhile, the main focus of Allardyce's search remains a striker first and then a centre half and central midfielder.
