We've had enough of absentee landlords

IN answer to Alex Leaver (July 7), re: Smoke screen council failings -- ie Rogue Landlords.

As I am sure he would like a reply, well some of us in The Haulgh care about our environment and we have had enough of absentee landlords who profit out of multi-occupancy houses, while they sit at home.

As to the Landlords Registration Scheme, it is a farce. There is a loophole in that you are responsible for the building, but not for the tenants.

Thank goodness The Haulgh Community Partnership are well organised and vocal. You should join them, Mr Leaver.

As to the council officers and the police -- the HCP, I am sure, but myself specifically, are very grateful for their co-operation and help to regenerate our area back to decent standards and safety.

And, by the way, Mr Leaver, for fear you are unaware, voting in an election is secret and without fear or favour.
