Masked man in petrol station hammer attack

A MASKED man armed with a lump hammer smashed his way through a glass door to rob a Bolton petrol station early on Friday.

The robber walked on to the forecourt of the Shell garage in Beaumont Road at 12.50am.

The attendant had locked up for the evening and was inside the garage. The thief used the hammer to smash the glass front door and then threatened the attendant until he handed over cash.

The robber is described as being aged between 25 and 30, skinny and around 5ft 11in tall with brown hair. He was wearing a green waterproof coat, dark jeans, trainers and a balaclava. Anyone with information should contact Bolton CID on 0161 856 5740 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
