County honour for runner Gwen

CHORLEY Harriers member, Gwen Farnworth, recently represented Lancashire in the National 10K Road-Race that incorporated the Inter Counties and AAA's championships.

Gwen, 40 from Charnock Richard is one of the original lady members of the club.

She was delighted to have finished as third lady for the county in a time of 40 mins 33 just outside her personal best.

The race held at Bourton in the Water in Gloucestershire had a quality field of national and international runners, with Kenyans taking the top three places.

Gwen said: "It was a terrific experience running against so many top athletes.

"I was selected for the lady vets' team due the time achieved at the recent Birchwood 10K.

"I thought someone was winding me up when they rang to say I'd been selected for the county"
