A YOUNG punk rock band from Bolton has been picked to help break a world record in a 24-hour recording marathon.
It is being organised as part of the Step Up school arts festival from July 1 to 10.
Bolton band One Down is made up of 17-year-olds Amy Warburton, Ben Simmons, and Tom Zornemann, and 16-year-old Liam Bradley.
They will will perform along with 47 other young bands at the School of Sound Recording (SSR) in Manchester to establish a record for non-stop recording.
During the 24-hour session, sound engineers from School of Sound Recording will record all the bands - and then mix the best of the tracks on to a CD, which will be released for sale in the North-west.
Guinness World Records is monitoring the attempt and will send an official adjudicator from London.
Bass guitarist Ben Simmons, who goes to Bolton Sixth Form College, said: "We have been rehearsing to take our minds off all our exams and studies. It is the perfect way to unwind and relax, and we manage to get together to practise at least once a week.
"Our teachers have been really supportive and we cant wait to take part in such prestigious event - and hopefully get a place in the record books at the same time."
More bands are still needed to take part in the attempt.
